About us

Founder Anthea Strachan

Anthea Strachan is a survivor of domestic violence and coercive control during her teenage years at the hands of an intimate partner. Her personal experience ignited a determination to lead a financially independent life and inspired her lifelong commitment to empowering other women.

Over the past 25 years, Anthea has built numerous successful businesses and established herself as an experienced Integrative Counselling Therapist and Lifestyle Wellness Practitioner.

Anthea’s passion for fostering financial, physical, and emotional wellbeing among women led her to create Domestic Collective—a business run by women, for women experiencing domestic violence.

Her vision is simple yet powerful: to provide an employment model that nurtures financial independence for survivors while making a positive contribution to society.

Through Domestic Collective, Anthea is a dedicated advocate for empowering women to reclaim their lives and thrive.

Supporting women who have experienced domestic violence

Based on the 2021–22 Personal Safety Survey, conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, over 1 in 4 (27% or 2.7 million) women have experienced family and domestic violence.

At the heart of Domestic Collective is the urgent need to support women who experience domestic violence. Financial dependency often prevents women from leaving abusive situations. Survivors need stable employment, emotional support, and financial independence.

Domestic Collective provides employment opportunities for women experiencing domestic violence, empowering these women, by fostering financial independence through employment and education enables them to rebuild their lives.

Our unique value proposition:

  •  "Cleaning with a Cause": Every service directly supports survivors.
  •  A safe and supportive work environment.
  •  Financial stability, career growth, and free counseling services for employees.
  •  Rehousing and educational support through grants and donations.

"Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it, she stands up for all women"

-  Maya Angelou
